1 Who We Are

Snap Cookd is an independent app developed and published on the Google Play Store. The app is a Food & Drink utility that uses artificial intelligence to identify ingredients from a photo and suggest meal ideas. We are a solo developer based in Malaysia.

2 Information We Collect

The following describes what data is processed when you use Snap Cookd:

3 Camera Permission

Snap Cookd requests access to your device camera solely to capture photos of ingredients laid out on a surface. The camera is only activated when you initiate a scan — we never access the camera in the background.

Photos captured by the app are:

• Sent securely to the Google Gemini AI API (via HTTPS) to identify ingredients
• Not stored on our servers — we have no server infrastructure of our own
• Not added to your device photo gallery unless you explicitly save them
• Discarded immediately after the AI response is received

4 Google Gemini AI (Third-Party Service)

Snap Cookd uses Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash API to power ingredient detection and meal suggestion. When you perform a scan, your photo (or ingredient list) is transmitted to Google's servers for processing.

Google's handling of data sent to the Gemini API is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We strongly encourage you to review these documents:

We do not control how Google processes data on their infrastructure. By using Snap Cookd, you acknowledge that ingredient scan data is transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service.

5 Data Stored on Your Device

All data generated by Snap Cookd is stored locally on your Android device. This includes:

• Scan history — a list of your recent ingredient scans and their associated meal suggestions (up to 20 sessions)
• App preferences — settings such as the bird's-eye camera hint toggle

This data is never transmitted to us or any third party (except where explicitly described in this policy). You can clear your scan history at any time from within the app by tapping "clear" in the Recent Scans section on the home screen.

Uninstalling Snap Cookd from your device will permanently delete all locally stored data.

6 Advertising

If and when advertising is introduced, we intend to use Google AdMob, Google's mobile advertising platform. AdMob may collect and process certain information about your device and usage behaviour to serve relevant advertisements. This may include:

• Device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID)
• Approximate location (derived from IP address)
• General usage information (e.g. which screens you view)
• Device characteristics (OS version, screen size, language)

Before any ads are introduced, we will:

• Update this Privacy Policy with full details of how advertising data is collected and used
• Display an in-app notification informing you of the change before it takes effect
• Update the Google Play Store listing to reflect that the app contains ads
• Where required by law, present a consent prompt before collecting advertising data

We will never sell your personal data to advertisers. Any advertising data collected by AdMob is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through your Android device settings under Privacy → Ads.

7 Internet Permission

Snap Cookd requires internet access for one purpose only: to send ingredient data to the Google Gemini AI API and receive meal suggestions in response. No other data is transmitted over the internet during normal app operation.

The app does not require an internet connection to browse your scan history, view previously generated recipes, or adjust app settings.

8 Children's Privacy

Snap Cookd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address the situation.

9 Data Security

All communications between Snap Cookd and the Google Gemini API are made over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Your ingredient photos are never transmitted over an unencrypted connection.

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our own servers, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal information through our systems is minimal. The security of data on your own device is governed by Android's built-in security mechanisms and your device settings.

10 Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data, most data subject rights (such as the right to access, correct, or delete your data from our systems) are not directly applicable — we hold no data about you on our servers.

For data stored locally on your device, you have full control:

• Clear scan history in the app at any time
• Revoke camera permission via Android Settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all local data permanently

11 Third-Party Services

Snap Cookd currently integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy which governs how they handle data:

12 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new features, integrate additional third-party services, or when required by law.

When we make material changes (such as introducing advertising), we will:

• Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document
• Notify users via an in-app message before the change takes effect
• Update the Privacy Policy link on the Google Play Store listing

Continued use of Snap Cookd after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the updated policy, please uninstall the application.
